W Krakowie, chyba w Polsce w ogóle, patrzymy na judaizm najczęściej przez pryzmat holocaustu. Żydzi to przeszłość naszego miasta, mówimy o tych, których już nie ma. Pokazujemy turystom puste krzesła na Placu Bohaterów Getta, synagogi zamienione na muzea, kamień upamiętniający ofiary... Mało mówimy o dzisiejszych Żydach, mało wiemy o Judaizmie. Dlatego cieszę się z takich krakowskich inicjatyw jak Festiwal Kultury Żydowskiej czy Noc Synagog.
ENG: In Cracow, maybe in Poland generally, we tend to look at Judaism through the perspective of holocaust. The Jews are the Past of our cities, not the future, we talk about those, who aren't there. We show the chairs at the Heroes' of the Ghetto Square, the synagogues changed into museums, the stone commemorating the victims... We talk little about today's Jews, we know little about their religion and culture. Therefore I'm happy and proud of such events as the Festival of Jewish Culture or the Synagogue's Night.
Wczorajsza, trzecia edycja Synagog Nocą, dla mnie była pierwszą. Siedem krakowskich synagog otworzyło swoje drzwi dla nas - laików, zainteresowanych być może kulturą żydowską, dla tych, chcących zajrzeć do środka nieznanego terytorium i podziwiać te niesamowite wnętrza, dla wszystkich. Tematem była Jerozolima, miasto, o którym nie wiem zbyt wiele, poza tym, że chciałabym je odwiedzić.
Yesterday's, third edtion of Synagogues at Night, was my first. Seven Cracow's synagogues opened ther door for us - the laics, interested maybe in jewish culture, those wanting to have a look inside the unknown territory and admire the amazing interiors, to everyone. The ain topic was jerusalem, a city I know little about apart from the fact, that I'd love to visit it one day.
Zaczęło się o 22 na dziedzińcu JCC uroczystą Hawdalą, czyli ceremonią oddzielającą czas Szabatu od powszednich dni. Śpiew Kantora poruszał wszystkie komórki ciała, a nieznane słowa, które brzmiały jak magiczne zaklęcia, sprawiły, że życzenia dobrego tygodnia zaczęły spełniać się natychmiastowo.
It started at 10 on the courtyard of JCC with Havdalah, the ceremony marking the end of the time of Shabbat. The voice of the cantor moved all the body cells and the unknown words, that sounded as the magic spells, made the wishes of the good week fulfill at once.
7@nite? Ja zdecydowałam się na odwiedzenie czterech synagog, co i tak dostarczyło wielu wrażeń.
7@nite? I decided to visit four synagogues, which brought a lot of impression anyway.
Na początku był Tempel. Trwały tam przygotowania do koncertu zespołu Shtar ortodoksyjnych rockmenów, mieszających hip hop z indie rockiem i funky. Nie zostałam na koncercie, ale nadrabiam zaległości na youtube ;).
At the beginning there was Tempel with its preparations for the Shtar concert - the band of orthodox rockmen, mixing hip hop, indie rock and funky. I didn't stay at the concert, but I' makingup for this on youtube.
Potem Kupa. Tę synagogę otwarto z opóźnieniem ze względu na odbywające się w niej modlitwy. Można tu było obejrzeć fascynujące fotografie Jerozolimy Grzegorza Meisela, stare zestawione z nowymi, obserwować zmiany, jakie zaszły w tym mieście.
Then Kupa. This synagoggue was open a bit late because of the prayers, which took place there. Here you could see the fascinating photos of Jerusalem by Grzegorz Meisel, old near the new ones, to watch the changes, which happened in the city.
In the Isaac Synagogue the Western Wall (Kotel) was recreated, where I put a piece of paper with my prayer. You could also see the visualisation of Jerusalem Temple with the voice telling about its history and architecture. And on the courtyard - the long line to woderfully smellling falafels.
Na koniec mojego zwiedzania zostawiłam sobie Synagogę Wysoką, do której ustawiła się tymczasem kolejka. Warto było czekać! Na wschodniej ścianie Synagogi pokazywano film o Jerozolimie, super zrobiony, bardzo ciekawy. Smaczku dodawał fakt, że genialnie wkomponował się w obrazy filmu Aron ha-Kodesz. A w podziemiach Synagogi można było obejrzeć wystawę znaczków na 700-lecie Gminy Żydowskiej.
For the end I left the High Synagogue, where in the meantime a long line appeared. It was worth waiting! On the eastern wall of the Synagogue was shown the ovie about Jerusalem, perfectly made, very interesting. Even better that the Aron ha-Kodesz fitted perfectly in the pictures of the movie. And in the basements there was an exhibition of the post stamps for the 700 years of cracow Jewish Community.
A potem, przepełniona wrażeniami, zostawiłam za sobą Dzielnicę Żydowską i wróciłam do Nowej Huty.
And then, full of impression, I went back from the Jewish District to Nowa Huta.
