Nowa Huta 1949+

W sobotę wybrałam się do nowohuckiego oddziału Muzeum Historycznego Miasta Krakowa - Dzieje Nowej Huty, korzystając z bezpłatnego wejścia na hasło Wstęp Wolny Festiwal.

ENG: On Saturday morning I went to Nowa Huta branch of Museum of History of Cracow, using the free entrance with password Free Entrance Festival.

Obecnie możemy oglądać wystawę Nowa Huta 1949+, która pozwala poznać historię tej dzielnicy w ekspresowym tempie. Na niewielkiej przestrzeni muzeum zmieściło się 40 lat dziejów (1949-1989) przedstawionych na planszach z dużą ilością tekstu (po polsku i angielsku) i zdjęć.

Now, we can see the exhibition Nowa Huta 1949+, which lets us know the history of the district in express pace. This small area covered 40 years (1949-1989) of history, shown on the boards with a lot of text (also in English) and photos. 

Możemy prześledzić wszystkie etapy rozwoju dzielnicy - od kontrowersyjnej decyzji o lokalizacji kombinatu pod Krakowem do sprzedaży pomnika Lenina.

We can watch all the stages of the district's developement - starting with the controversial decision of location of Nowa Huta near Cracow up to selling the Lenin's monument.

Oddzielne plansze poświęcono m.in. początkom budowy kombinatu i osiedli mieszkaniowych, nowohuckim mitom, historii kościoła nowohuckiego i obronie krzyża. Duża część dotyczy nowohuckiej opozycji - od jej początków w 1979 - stowarzyszenie Chrześcijańska Wspólnota Ludzi Pracy - aż do wyborów w 1989 roku. Ciekawe są też zdjęcia przedstawiające życie codzienne Nowej Huty.

Separate boards were devoted to the beginnigs of the construction of steel factory and the living estates, the myths of Nowa Huta, the history of church and the defence of the cross. A big part was consecrated to the oposition - from the begining in 1979 - the association Christian Community of Working People - up to the election in 1989. There are also interesting photos showing every day life of Nowa Huta.

Oprócz zdjęć możemy oglądać na wystawie plakaty, foldery, dyplomy, medale oraz przedmioty pamiątkowe, wytapiane w Hucie im. Lenina, np. popielniczka z okazji pierwszego spustu surówki. 

Apart from photos we can see the posters, folders, diplomas, medals and the souvenirs, melted in Lenin Steel Factory, eg. ashtray done on the occasion of the first release of steel.

Moim hitem była jednak zapalniczka w kształcie bramy Kombinatu.

My favourite one was the lighter in the shape of steel factory entrance gate.

Lenin, rower i buty - czyli odtworzenie historycznego zdarzenia, kiedy pod pomnikiem Lenina umieszczono te przedmioty z dopiskiem: "Masz tu rower, nowe buty i spierdalaj z Nowej Huty".

Lenin, bike and shoes - the reconstruction of historic incident, when near the Lenin monuments those things were placed, with the slogan: "Get the bike, new shoes and get the fuck out of Nowa Huta".

Mundur zomowca przypomina o sposobach, jakimi władza tłumiła strajki.

The uniform of zomo militia man remind about the way how the governent dealt with the strikes.

Na koniec możemy obejrzeć też świetny film (40 min.) Nowa Huta Labirynty Pamięci. Jest to historia Nowej Huty opowiedziana ustami jej mieszkańców. Oglądamy go w zacisznym kąciku, siedząc w autentycznych prl-owskich fotelach.

In the end we can watch a great film (40 min.) Nowa Huta Labyrinths of Memory. It's the histoy of Nowa Huta tolde by the inhabitants. We watch it in a quiet nook, sitting in authentic arm chairs from PRL period.
